Solar Innova achieves a new certification of Conformity with the European Standard EN 356:2001, relating to construction glass and safety glass. Testing and classification of resistance to manual attack.

The test consisted of making a square opening of 400±10 mm, whose center coincided with the geometric center of the specimen, with the minimum number of ax blows and hammer blows. The test was carried out on three samples.

The specimens are first subjected to impact with a hammer, starting the blows at the lower vertex of the square and giving as many hammer blows as necessary to break all the glass sheets. Next, the frame containing the specimen is rotated 90º clockwise and the test is repeated at each vertex. According to the UNE-EN 356:2001 standard, the distance between two impact points must be between 50 and 130 mm and must allow the impact zones between two consecutive points to overlap.

In the ax impact test, the test procedure is similar to the previous case, until the 400±10 mm square is detached from the rest of the glass. The starting point is the lower right corner and it is struck until the ax completely penetrates the specimen. The specimen is then rotated as in the procedure described in the hammer impact test. In the case of the ax test, the distance between two points is determined by measuring the length cut on the back face of the specimen.

The test is concluded when the square with a side of 400±10 mm detaches from the rest of the glass or, despite not detaching due to the action of the axe, falls under its own weight, thus giving rise to the specified opening.

The classification is determined by the number of combined blows, hammer blows and ax blows, necessary to conclude the test, that is, for the square to be detached from the rest of the sample.
